What Happens When We Share Our Branding Photos?

Imagine investing the time and effort required into a branding photoshoot. You’ve filled out the Oh Tilly Brand Photography welcome package questions, showed Tilly the amazing things about your brand that set you apart and that’s before you even take a single photo. Then you take a day off work, sit at the hairdressers and makeup artists, pick out your wardrobe and props, load that all into the car and spend several hours with your photographer. Then your photographer delivers you a gallery of beautiful images, they capture your personality and the essence of your brand perfectly and they convey the stories you want to tell your audience.
You’re so excited, you’re going to show your brand to the world. You’re going to grow. You’re going to shine. But then something comes up, days turn into weeks and after that initial post you still haven’t shared much or anything. You feel a pang of guilt at the investment you made. What a waste of all that time and effort. Digital dust collects on your precious images and they cry out in the night to be unleashed upon the world. Ok ok, maybe that’s a bit dramatic, but your photographer is definitely wishing with all her heart that you would share those images every day and watch people engage with you and your brand grow!

So it’s time to unleash the power of your brand images and unlock your brand’s true potential.

First let’s dive into the world of visual storytelling and the massive impact it can have on your business.

Imagine this: Each time someone stops scrolling to admire your strategically created brand photos, your UVP (unique value proposition) smacks them in the face. These images have the power to convey your brand’s message, and purpose, resonating deeply with your audience’s pain points. As you share your brand photos consistently and strategically, you’ll see a transformation – more brand awareness, more engagement and a sense of expertise that sets you apart from the crowd. In a fiercely competitive landscape, it’s important to stop people in their scroll with emotive images. Otherwise, they just scroll past you and will land on a competitor who has better images.

So what happens when we share our brand images?

I’ll give a personal example, as a photographer I have spent 20 years behind the lens. Not being in many images and not thinking my own brand images were a priority. My brand was successful because I was still sharing images on a regular basis. It’s just that they were just images of my clients. People would like these images and contact me to do their images. This is like you sharing photos of your products, in some cases they will still sell themselves.

What changed when I started sharing images of myself, my unique personality, my unique value proposition, my story?

Well over time I started to gain recognition. In my local town I would introduce myself to someone and they would already know who I was. My own brand images were compelling enough that they were shared online by clients and adjacent businesses. My stories were compelling enough that they were engaged with when someone would stop scrolling because of my images. Without a dollar spent on ads I was reaching a massive amount of local people in my target market just through the power of sharing my own face and brand (rather than just my product).

What would that kind of strength of brand recognition do for your business? Would that give you the opportunity to establish yourself as a leader and an expert before you even met your clients? 1000% yes!

What to Expect when I share my brand images?

Immediately after you share a high quality brand image you will see engagement from your followers, those are the people who have chosen to follow you for some reason. This engagement tells social media algorithms that your content is of high quality and will show it to more people who DO NOT follow you. Increasing your reach. With low quality images you don’t get this algorithm push. Over time, with many quality posts that elicit engagement from your followers and then are pushed into the feeds of your non followers, platforms begin to recognise you as a quality sharer and will naturally give your content a push. This sort of snowball effect will help to push your brand in front of more and more people, increasing your audience and reach and giving you the opportunity to educate more people on why you are the expert and go-to person in your industry. So how should I be sharing my own images? Where and how? Well that’s an easy question to answer, I think you should share them everywhere. But here’s a short list of some of the possibilities:

  1. Website: Your brand photos deserve a prominent place on your website, where they can greet visitors and immediately convey your brand’s personality and message. Your header SHOULD convey your UVP in the imagery. And your about pages should be covered with your faces.
  2. Social Media Profiles: Everything on platforms like Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. Use your brand photos in profile/page banners and profile pictures. It’s the way to jump out and grab your audience’s attention and create a cohesive brand presence.
  3. Blog Posts: Break up your blog posts with relevant brand photos to add visual interest and reinforce your brand identity. Images can help break up text, engage readers, and make your content more shareable.
  4. Email Marketing: Infuse your newsletters and email campaigns with brand photos that reflect your latest offerings, promotions, or stories. Visual appeal in emails can significantly boost click-through rates and enhance the impact of your messaging.
  5. Print Materials: Extend the reach of your brand photos beyond the digital realm by incorporating them into print materials such as business cards, brochures, flyers, and promotional materials. They become tangible representations of your brand and leave a lasting impression.
  6. Presentations and Slide Decks: Elevate your presentations and PowerPoints by integrating captivating brand photos. Visuals have the power to make your message more memorable and persuasive.
  7. Online Ads: Whether it’s banner ads, social media ads, or Google ads, incorporating brand photos can make your advertisements more visually appealing and help them stand out from the crowd.
  8. Press Releases and Media Kits: When sharing important news about your business with the media or industry influencers, including high-quality brand photos adds professionalism and visual interest to your press releases and media kits.
  9. Event Promotions: If you’re hosting or sponsoring an event, make use of your brand photos in event promotions, including invitations, social media posts, and event banners. They’ll help create a cohesive visual experience and attract attendees.
  10. Digital and Printed Signage: If you have a physical location or participate in events with digital screens, leverage your brand photos to create eye-catching digital signage that captures attention and reinforces your brand identity. Or what about the side of a bus or billboard around your area? What a great way to increase brand recognition.
